Default Needing an opinion on piston swapping y8 to b7

Ive looked and found tons of information on the subject but I havent found exactly the answer I need. Im poor dont have any money coming in and so forth and have two blowed up motors both slung a rod the first (y8) was my fault i managed to get my hands on a chipped p28 edu the rev limited at 7800 rpm on stock internals. You can imagine how that went. The second (b7 mini me z6 head) i have no clue what happend I drove it home after the swap ran fine never went above 4 grand and as im pulling in my driveway at idle it snaps a rod. Didnt tear up the block hardly any tho so im trying to put it back together but the only pistons I have are y8 pistons can i put on in there and run it till I get money saved up to order me a set or will it throw the balancing off?

I kno the pistons are made a little different and I'll have lower conpression on that cylinder. I also know the rods are different I have already gotten me a b7 rod and have a buddy of mine pressing the wrist pin out of the old piston onto the new rod. Just need to know if im wasting my time or if im going to ruin my b7 mini me

Please advise how you would go about swapping pistons.

This will tell me what your game plan is and then I can better answer your question.

zealautoworks.com is your friend. Both pistons are 75mm diameter but the wrist pin height is not the same. And the rods are the question.

Y8 rods will not fit a B7 crank or vice versa. Hope this helps you with what you are looking for.

It is in fact a b7 rod on a y8 piston i already have it installed but the main cap girdle I ordered off of ebay is the wrong one and used so i can't return it. And im btoke and can't find a d15 anywhere in the vicinity of West virginia so i guess im screwed. Probably end up junking it and getting me a 200 dollar cavalier. Aint got much else choice.
