02 ex misfire
Not really familiar with the forums, just made an account to post this. I have an 02 civic ex with a misfire that I cannot figure out. Changed all spark plugs, checked all ignition coils, new valve cover gasket, new injectors, and still no luck. Mechanic buddy says I should just get a whole new motor but no one else has looked at it. Any idea what else I could try?

Im battling mis fire issues myself on my 01 ex. At first mine had a code for multiple mis fires so i changed the plugs and coils with no change. So while checking for vacuum leaks i decided to take the intake off and clean the egr system (which was completely clogged) that cleared my mis fire codes, but i still have a code for catalytic converter below threshold and a small mis fire at idle..... Have you checked for vacuum leaks or run a compression test on yours?

P0118 - ECT Sensor Circuit High Voltage
Check the ECT sensor for failure, poor connections or loose terminals at the ECT sensor and the PCM, open wire between the PCM and the ECT sensor and finally a bad PCM.
If replacing the ECT is necessary, use a OEM Honda sensor.
Good idea to check your thermostat too. Is it the original?

Strange because a P0118 code mentions nothing about replacing fuel injectors or even their circuits. It's all concerning the ECT sensor and its circuit.
But at any rate, keep on truckin' ...

But that was after the misfire was already gone
