Clutch question, not trusting mechanic
I have a 2001 Honda CRV 4wd 5 speed with about 165,000 miles on it.
I was out shopping and everything had been fine but on the drive home the clutch started sticking badly and I had a great deal of trouble shifting gears. I had not been experiencing any clutch issues up to this point. It came on very suddenly. Checked the clutch fluid and it was a little low so added some fluid. Was able to drive it on an errand the next day but the clutch was still sticky. The day after that when I went out and started the car there was zero pressure in the clutch pedal. None. Zip. I ended up having to have it towed to a mechanic. I have not previously had a clutch issue that came on so abruptly like this.
The one thing that had been going on for months was a gradual loss of power. The car was just not responding like it should and didn't want to accelerate normally. But it was really subtle. If someone else had driven my car they might not have even noticed but it was apparent to me.
I ended up taking it to a mechanic I've never used before who came recommended by a friend, but now I'm not trusting the guy. I'm really curious to see what the experts on here think might be the problem. Thanks!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "sticking", but it sounds like you have a leak in your clutch fluid system. This typically occurs on Hondas at the master cylinder, so I'd check there first. See if you've got wetness on the carpet at your firewall, below your steering column. When the clutch master cylinder leaks you'll often find it there. I experienced this failure on my '95 Civic, and many Integras while I was wrenching for Acura.
