Default 400hp goal for lsvtec turbo

Hello, I wanted to know if anyone can help me figure out the best setup for my lsvtec turbo build. My goal is 400+ hp, and I mainly just need help with finding the best turbo and fuel system for my car, this is going to be a street only car.

I want to start off by saying, it will be on 93 octane, I would do e85, but the closest station to me is 2 hours away.
I also, only need a fuel pump and fuel injectors, I already have an AEM fuel pressure regulator, and BDL fuel rail.
I don't know what you guys need to know so, I'm going to list everything I can remember.

Block:

b18b1 block
Manly LSVtec pistons 9:1 comp
Skunk2 rods
OEM Civic type r oil pump
acl rods and main bearings

Head:

b16a2 head
Supertech LMA
Brian Crower BC0010S Steel Dual Valve Spring Retainer
Skunk2 pro series turbo cams

I appreciate any help you can provide, if you need anymore information, please let me know. Thanks!

I already own all the parts, I just need a turbo and fuel system and I have no idea what to look for.

  • What is your budget ?
  • What is the intended usage of the car (street, street/strip, daily driver, autoX, road course etc.) ?
  • Do you prefer quick spool-up, smooth power delivery with good mid-range torque or more aggressive top-end focused power delivery and the ability to drive off-boost easily ?

The above two answers will determine the direction you need to take. A new-tech ball bearing turbo will provide quicker spool-up, more mid-range torque and good top-end power but will cost more. A more budget-friendly journal bearing turbo will sacrifice some on-off aka transient response and possibly mid-range but provide a strong top-end .

GTX3071/Borg Warner S252 SX-E/Turbonetics TNX30/56 are ballpark choices. The new G25-660 would be a kickass turbo on paper but comes at a premium.

A DW340 fuel pump and 1000cc EV14 style injectors (DW, Bosch, FIC, Injector Dynamics) will take you very far on 93 Octane and still be perfectly driveable. For simplicity I'd go with a D/B-series specific fuel pressure regulator like AEM which bolts-in.

Reliability is very important to me, but I don't want the best of the best.
This is just a street car, to mess with people.
I've never driven a turbo car before, but I guess something that is still dailyable in the lowend, but I would like to drive the car as much as possible.

That all looks good, I will look up that fuel pump and the injectors today.

If the information I provided, what turbo do you think would best suit my needs and my power goals. I'm so clueless on this turbo stuff, but I'm trying to get my foot in the door.

The Borg Warner S252 SX-E in a 0.63 T3 turbine housing or a Turbonetics TNX 30/56 standard bearing would be my suggestions as they offer a lot of bang for the buck. The Turbonetics option is water-cooled which is nice for a street car as you don't need to idle the car after boosted driving, whilst the BW is a heavy-duty journal bearing design that has proven to be very reliable and comes at a great price (you just need to be mindful of allowing adequate cool down after pulls or aggressive driving).

Greg from @Autoworks will also be able to guide you and provide some great turbo kits and turbo pricing.

Full-Race and AGP Turbo offer some great deals on the S252 SX-E and other sizes in that range - go check them out.

Thanks.

I also agree w/ the above suggestions, 1000cc and a 320 or 340 pump will get you going towards that goal w/ ease IMO.
As for turbo, something in the 52-55 mm range would be ideal, 58mm would get it done w/ ease too. I also have th eBorg SXE options, which are stout JB turbos...I just wish they had more turbine housing options direct. Budget will weed out some options, but you have everything from $700- $1600 that will get it done in that range from PTE, Borg, Garrett, and Turbonetics.
