Default srs light on

Dealer tested system and said a 54-50 code need a new module $790. No mention of an 11-80 code that I got from jumping the 4 and 9 terminals and also using a Innova 3100j scan tool which takes me to the question, will a short circuited To Power In Driver Air Bag First Module short out the srs module? The dealer has replace the inflator twice on recalls prior to any of these problems.

DTC 11-80: SHORT TO POWER IN DRIVER'S AIRBAG FIRST INFLATOR

Can be due to:
  • Driver’s airbag
  • Cable reel
  • Faulty SRS unit or poor contact at SRS unit connector A (28P) and the SRS unit.
Troubleshooting to determine which of the above items may be the cause can be performed; however, since DTC 54-50: Internal failure of SRS unit is present, a faulty SRS unit is likely the cause of both trouble codes.

It is unlikely the DTC 11-80 caused the failure to the SRS unit.

if I change the srs module first will the airbag problem harm the new unit? The new unit will have tobe paired with the cars computer? do you have any idea of the cost to pair?

The DTC 11-80 may actually be due to a bad SRS Unit. Your initial post mentioned the driver's airbag having already been replaced twice before.

There is no pairing of the SRS unit required. However, with the SRS unit replacement, the ODS (Occupant Detection System) needs to be initialized and calibrated. ODS consist of the OPDS (occupant position detection system), and the SWS (front passenger's seat weight sensor) system.

Normally, this is done with HDS. However, it may be possible to initialize as shown in this video:

Note: The 2007 SRS unit is not the same as 2003-05 Accords (which does not have side curtain airbags).

Ignition must be turned off, and battery disconnected for at least 3 minutes before disconnecting or working with any SRS component. Precautions must be taken when working on SRS. So, do at your own risk.

I'm afraid that If I change out the control module first the 11-8 code short in air bag etc. will short out the new unit?
Thank you so much for this information.
