Em1 b16a2 GSR transmission lurks forward and stalls
Hi I'm new here I have a problem I cant seem to figure out. I purchased an em1 itbwas pretty beat and in need of love. Anyways if I am holding my clutch pedal down the car will stay on but the moment I lift the pedal the car will try and go forward as if it's in gear and stall it feels like when you try to drive off with the e-brake up but the car is in neutral and the E-brake is down. I've installed a new clutch kit and new slave cylinder and bled it to make sure there was no air and I am still having this problem any suggestions?? Could my transmission be locked in one gear?? I know I have a bad 5th gear syncro and cant drive in 5th gear. But I'm at a loss
Sounds like you have something held up in the transmission. Possible a shift fork isn't moving all the way, allowing the proper switching of gears, locking two gears in at once. You mentioned a damaged 5th. It looks like it has caused collateral damage now. Drop the trans and remove the bell housing to inspect it.

Linkage has a lot of play should probably be replaced as well but the same problem happens no matter what gear I'm in neutral it stalls hard like it's in gear but if I have it in any gear the car just bogs down and dies it doesn't jump forward and make that clunk like it does when it stalls in neutral

Can you move the car by pushing it when it is in neutral?
Does the engine stall if you let out the clutch in neutral?
Do the reverse lights come on when you shift to what you think is reverse? If the linkage is really loose, you may be getting only gears 3 and 4 rather than first and reverse, which require moving the linkage to the side. Trying to take off from a stop in 3 or 4 will result in what you describe.

If you're able to shift through all the gears than its the clutch spring, it popped out and wedged its way between the flywheel and disc. BUT THATS ONLY IF YOU'RE ABLE TO SHIFT THROUGH ALL GEARS PROPERLY.
