Default cel code 9

hello everyone,
1989 hatchback si 1.6l
all stock
new distributor within the year kept the old one as a back up,havent had problems at all until yesterday
the other morning I was driving to work and got the CEL.
counted the blinks and i have the CEL code#9
pulled the 10amp hazard fuse before leaving work yesterday to clear but it came back on.
this morning driving to work came on again but while going up the highway it seemed to hiccup twice.
not really bad, kind of quick but was noticeable
any ideas ?
should I take the dizzy back and get another one?
thanks

If your old one was still working properly, I would try swapping that to see if you get the same behavior just in case something's worn out in the wiring or a ground is corroding. You're probably right that it is the distributor though.

do you think the dizzy possibly being defective, it would cause that little hiccup tho while I was in acceleration?

Yes. The Cyl. 1 sensor is used for ignition timing, so your hiccup is probably a miss due to an injector triggering a little early or late.
