CEL comes on when it's cold outside?
I had my check engine light come on earlier in the week on Tuesday. I pulled the code, got 8 long flashes, which would imply a code 80. That's not on the list. So I reset the ECU, and have driven nearly 100 miles, and this morning when I left for work it came on again.
Here's the odd part. Both times it's come on, it has been within 5-10 seconds of starting the car. While it may be purely coincidental, it seems odd to me. It has been getting colder here lately, around 20 degrees when I leave for work. However, the past 2 mornings when it hasn't come on it's been warmer, say around 32-35. Is it possible the colder weather is having something to do with the CEL coming on? I might go to Autozone this weekend and get the P code also.
Any other suggestions? At first I thought it was a code 8, TDC sensor. But if it's just 8 long flashes, that should be 80.
Car runs perfect still even with the CEL on. It's a 99 hatch with the D16Y7 and ~83,000 miles. Thanks.

Only thing i can think of is that you're reading the CEL flashes wrong... Go get the P code from Autozone, like you said, and it will give us more information...
