PLEASE help me with my CEL ASAP!!!!!!
i know its a long post but PLEASE HELP ME OUT
I have a 92 civic with a 92 jdm b16a and Ive had the swap for about 2 years with no problems at al until now.
I was driving to work two days ago, i had been driving for about 30 min no problems at all, so im about 5 min form work ( driving at about 3000 rpm's in 5th) and my cel comes on ( the car isn't running any different that it normally does) so i pull over pop the hood and everything seems to be in order so i turn the car off, turn it back on and there is no more cel ( which means its a soft code right?) ok after work i drive to school and them home and i didn't get a cel during the 40 min drive. So i just brushed it off thinking it wasn't important.
Well the next day i drove to work no cel, but as soon as i get off work start my car, bam theres the code so i pull into one of the bays and go to jump the ecu i get two long flashes and then a short one code 21 right?
ok so i grab my manual and it says a code 21 is for a vtec solenoid, i check all the connections and there good. i didn't want to be late for school so i tried resetting the code and it didn't go away so i drove it to school no problems engaging vtec and its running fine. I come out of school and theres no code. The next day i get no codes in the morning but as son as i get out of work it comes on for the drive to school and then its off when i leave school, it may sound stupid but the only time its on is when its hotter in the middle of the day, im stumped i have no idea what to do
please help

I have the same problem. As i drive to school i get a CEL and the car bogs like crazy. I pull over, shutdown and reboot, lol, and it goes away.
We do not have the same problem b/c i believe my cat is messed up. just thought i share my CEL pain with you.
BTW can the CEL be checked without shutting the car off b/c i wanna know if you can do it before you shut off and it goes away.

Re: (92civeg)
ah i had this problem before. it was the knock sensor. i wired it up and then it never does it again.
i'm using a stock p30 ecu on my b16a that is.
do this...when the CEL light comes on, find out what code it's throwing..then we can go on from there.
EDIT:
so it's throwing code 21 on hot days.....sounds like a wiring issue of some sort. when was the last time you changed oil? i'm just throwing ideas.

i do it all the time...leave the car on and check the CEL.

and if its a bad solenoid which one would i order for a 92 obd1 jdm b16a?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Off a USDM Del Sol VTEC.
I'm going to guess that it's oil pressure though.

Re: (quicksilver17981)
ok the code hasn't been thrown for the past 2 days of driving, oil level is good and i found a page of a troubleshooting flow chart but had to get it for a dohc del sol, will it matter that that's obd2 and mine is obd1?
