Default 2003 Civic won’t rev past 3500

I have a 2003 civix that will occasionally throw a cel for the cam shaft position sensor. As far as the sensor and the connector have been replaced and wiring checked yet it continues to throw the code occasionally. The car has 220k mi and the engine only has 70k

Check to make sure that the mechanical timing is correct... one tooth off at the crank gear can/will throw that code.
