Hi all!
So we recently bought a 99 Civic LX which has a D16Y8 engine. That evil CEL came on, so we took it to autozone for diagnostics and got about 4 codes. One was the knock sensor (which coincidentally is what killed my last car so I've already got a little vendetta with these things) and that's what we decided to start with. Bought the part, got the car up in the air, unplugged the wire that goes to the KS (think it's called the KS harness?) and found ourselves holding about 6" of loose wire.. Don't know how, but the wire has been completely severed and looks like it'd been soldered at some point which makes me think this isn't the first time. Now we're thinking this is obviously the problem and maybe we can get out of replacing the sensor itself.

Problem is, we can't find a replacement part!! I called every parts shop in town and not a single one had this wire. So then we called the dealership which told us this part isn't made for this car anymore. What are our options here? Is there a different but compatible part we can use? Repair we can make?
