Hi I am currently in the middle of a mini me build using a d15b7 block with stock internals and a d16z6 head with an aem tru time timing gear and I am using s z6 timing belt but I am having an issue with getting the timing marks to line up on the timing gear and I have not found any information on using the aem timing gear just info saying it needs to be adjusted 4.75* if anyone has any advice that would be awesome.
If you check the FAQ sticky you will see all the mini-me builds are well documented. And you would also see that there is not a half tooth variance with the all obd1 mini-me.
I've read through several of the threads including the massive mini me build thread that's states you need to use a y8 or z6 cam gear to correct the timing offset for a b7/z6 combo. My problem is that i picked this the z6 head up with an aem adjustable gear and it will not line up with the tdc mark.
You are confusing the Y8 head on a B7 block. That is the combination that creates half a tooth off. The Z6 head on the B7 block does not create the half a tooth variance. You can either set your AEM to zero or you can use a Z6 cam gear.
If the head has been milled a couple of times, then you might be a little off but not even sure if it would be half a tooth.

Toss that adjustable **** in the trash before it slipps and your pistons eat your valves. get a Z6 stock cam gear
Figures...... The write up in the FAQ doesn't touch on the the all OBD1 mini-me requiring a different cam gear.... D-series.org does. Y8 cam gear onto the Z6 head if it's going onto a B7/8/2 block...
Unless I'm mistaken, this very detailed write up skips over the half tooth variance that is well documented everywhere else. What would be the best way to highlight this one missing crucial piece in this monstrous write up?
No worries I was just wondering if I missed something. I've been wanting to provide a pictorial AND mathematical explanation of why the difference exists for probably more than a decade now. It'll be a while but I'll get around to it now LOL

If you ever do, please let me know. I have added a blurb to the top of the D15B7/D16Z6 mini-me build post that is linked in the FAQ and it points to d-series.org and the post where they break it down. I'm not sure if that's kosher and if you ever build that post here, I'll gladly change the blurb to point at your post to keep it internal.
