Help identifying transmission and associated CV Axle in
Hi, my girlfriend recently purchased a manual '97 Civic Coupe. She was told that the engine and transmission had been swapped with an engine from a '99 (unknown trim) and we're trying to replace the CV axles. Unfortunately, we can't get the driver's side axle to fit. It goes into the hub fine, but won't go all the way into the axle. There's about 1/2'' of space between the transmission and the axle. I removed the circular seal on the end of the axle to see if it went all the way in, but it still had about 1/4'' of space remaining. I've changed the axles on my 2007 FA1 a few times now, and from that experience I can tell that the axle isn't seating in the transmission. We know that the engine is a B16A, but that's about it. We tried axles for a '97, '99. and a '99 Si. None of them fit. I'm hoping someone on here will see what i'm missing. I don't live where the car is currently stored (it's about an hour away) and all I have as of now is the single included image.
It states this motor was originally mated to a cable tranny, I suspect yours is a hydro tranny and could be a GSR or LS tranny from an integra.
As such, I think you may wish to research b motor swap into 96-00 coupe or 6th gen coupe. I'm sure one of the build threads will talk about what axles are needed for that tranny in that car.
