Default Please help to identify this head on a d15 block

I'm buying an engine tomorrow because I would rather rebuild it and not have my daily down for however long that would take. The enging block stamp says "D15B7", but I'm still learning these. I think it has a y8 v-tec head on it. Thoughs?

Well from the valve cover and cam gear it certainly looks like a y8. There is a Vtec solenoid on it, so it's Vtec. It's either a y8 or some jdm head I don't know about. Don't think if it was jdm they would lie and tell you is a y8. My conclusion: it's a y8 head.

Just as an FYI, the Y8 head on a B7 block is going to natually be half a tooth off on mechanical timing.
Trying to remember off the top of my head, I think you put the B7 cam gear on it to compensate.
The pic's show the Y8 cam gear still on it.

There is a pretty thorough write up about the Y8/B7 mini-me in the faqs.

I've got the B7/Y8 mini me, timing it was a b**** but I like it better than the previous Z6 head I had on it.

I still plan to run the D15 with the B7 head and A6 cam. I hardly ever rev over 5k so the v-tec wouldn't be worth it.
Is this the code I'm looking for?

It didn't take my post.... Bah!

It seems to fit as the D16Y8 head as per our head stamp thread which I stickied the other day:
