Default Wiring problems

Well just got me a 97 civic ex d16y8 and there's a few problems with it I'm looking for help with. 1 my temp gauge doesn't work and the pig tail is missing to the sender. What is the wire color for it? 2 my vtec solenoid is unhooked and am trying to locate the other end of the harness wire I'm looking for a green yellow wire on the main harness correct? I'll take pictures of it. The p.o. really rigged the harness on this thing and I'm at a loss with wiring so I'll need some help from everyone if you're willing.

Green with yellow stripe is the VTEC solenoid. Yellow with green stripe is the temperature gauge sensor. This can all be found in the sticky "Wiring and Connector Guide" at the top of this forum.

Also your radiator fan switch is not plugged in.

That does seem hacked to pieces, you may look for a parts car to remove the harness complete from.

Don't you think it would be cheaper just to buy pigtails and solder/shrink wrap? I can't find a parts car online or anywhere close to me. And eBay wants 200 for just an engine harness which is assinine.
As far as pigtails go I'm looking for... IAT, coolant fan, ECT, vss, and ECT for gauge.
IAT, fan, and ECT for ecm are all the same pigtails correct?
VSS is 3 wire
And coolant temp sender for gauge is one wire correct?
All male off the harness I assume right?

I normally dont suggest replacing an engine harness, but yours is really bad. It looks like your car was a donor for pig tails for another car

EBay is inflated for pricing, call local junkyards and they will sell you connectors for next to nothing. Very few people go out to yards for these cars anymore. $2 a connector from a junkyard or $60 for the harness seems logical.

You can buy new connectors but I really hate those crimp connectors. Its also rediculous to find 20 gauge wiring anywhere but Amazon or eBay these days for proper gauge wiring. Theres always a risk of another loose wire somewhere in that engine harness, so I really suggest fully inspecting the engine harness while you have the car down for repairs

Will a 5th gen z6 car work as a donor for most plugs?

If I DO replace plugs and not the whole harness I definitely plan on soldering, and double wall shrink wrapping connections. I hate the butt connectors too, nothing but problems later on after a year or two of weather. The wire starts oxidizing and boom back to the same problems of a bad harness.
