Valero vs Desno whats the difference?
Ok so long story short I don't own a Honda but my friends 02 accord LX needed a radiator. Broken down on the side of the road so I went t get him one. get to Autozone,,,, they asked which style he had. I didn't know about the different ones so I had them show me pix of the caps. In the computer it matched the Denso style cap he had. COOL so we get it take it home, it came with a brand new cap so we figure cool. everything bolted up. start the car and the cap is blowing steam. Go to try his Old cap and its not even close. SO I figure they must have given me the wrong part. Drive back, and they say NO thats the Denso one. they go and pull one Denso and 1 Valero and they both have the same cap, which is different than mine. They gave me a new cap and its still steaming just not as bad. The car is not over heating and so far looks to not be loosing any coolant. He drove it 1.5 hours home and said it was totally fine.
I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what exactly is the difference in the Radiators. I mean other than the cap the Autozone one was a direct drop in. According to the computers the Pressure on both is the same, but I don't really trust Autozones computers.
And also... anyone else run into steaming caps when doing a replacement. I know autozone isn't the best quality but in a pinch thats all we had.

Pictures would help.
Since the radiator was not a warranty replacement, do you still have the 'original' radiator? And can you take pics of that one? If it actually is the original radiator, it should have markings indicating if it is Valeo or Denso on the upper tank, usually on or near that flat spot.
Only reason there may be different brands is due to suppliers. But I can't readily see why there would be a difference in radiators unless there is a difference in MT vs AT. With the aftermarket usually replacement parts are made to fit both transmissions.
19010-PAA-A02, Valeo MT $247.50
19010-PAA-A03, Denso MT $247.50
19010-PAA-A52, Valeo AT $270.35
19010-PAA-A53, Denso AT $247.50
