1999 Honda civic hood issue
I'm having a issue with my hood closing all the way down. So I bought a new assembly from Honda and the cable as well. Now I notice that the first hook that you move to lift on the hood is hitting the hood when I'm closing it. The is it supposed to go in the slot that the hood has for it to close all the way this is my problem I'm not sure if my hood is bad and it sticks up on the driver's side and not the passenger. If is there anybody can help I would be very appreciated thank you.
The lever that the cable pulls on has to go all the way back when the handle is not being pulled, or it won't latch. Also if the latch assembly has been falsely tripped to the closed position when the hood is open, it won't latch. Pull and release the handle inside the car to open it.
Adjust the latch assembly side to side so the bar on the hood goes into the slot. Adjust up and down so the hood closes fully in the center, i.e. as far down as you can take it and still have it latch. Then adjust the bumpers on the side to bring the hood height even with the fender. The side adjustment is purely cosmetic, but it is important for safety that the main latch latches properly. Don't drive with only the secondary latch holding it, it will pop open at some point.

I replaced the cable and the latch from Honda and the latch sits in the same position as the old one the secondary latch hits the hood I'm not sure if it got tweaked or something it's almost close to the hole for the hood but not quite

oh the pic finally showed up.
You need to inspect the latch and its support beam. If its not straight than no it won't go inside the hood. You also need to verify that the hood is aligned properly and if its not an oem hood, new from honda or from another honda but with a vin, than you'll have to make adjustments to get it to fit.

@IB Jose is aware of the upload issue, however he states that you should wait a bit longer for the upload to complete.
If you got into frontend accident and didn't properly repair the front end, or if you're unaware of any damages before you bought it used, its best to investigate that.
