Thanks for letting me join. I'm Frank. I'm a firefighter in the Phoenix Az area. I have a 97 Civic lx manual transmission that is my driver to and from the station. The other day while driving in the rain the speedometer just went dead and the check engine light came on. I went to Parts store and had then scan it and these codes came up.
P0500
P1298
P0135
P0141
The vehicle seems to be driving completely normal just no speedo. I'm a novice to basic mechanic. What do I start replacing? The Speed Sensory?

This looks like the fuse 15 problem. A known issue with the 1996-2000 models, it is simple to fix. Your sensors are still good, but have no power due to shorted wires and a blown fuse. Google for Civic fuse 15 it is all over the net.

 

If I need one where is the best/cheapest place to get a new wiring harness?

 

Bowing that fuse is usually from a gray or bad ground on the thermostat housing, or a frayed wire on an oxygen sensor

Unplug your alternator, the connectors for the oxygen sensors and put in a new fuse.

If youre that dedicated to a new harness youre going to have to remove your old harness, at that point you might as well just peel back the electrical tape and inspect your old harness and fix it yourself . nearly all of the harness is under the intake manifold

 

Drive up on ramps and work on it from underneath. You should not need to take a lot apart. Another option is to disconnect that part of the harness from everything on the back of the engine and detach it from the clips, then pull it out over the starter so you can work on it easier.

 

 

A bad ground won't blow a fuse.
