1992 Honda prelude
im trying to diagnose my Chech engine light but my OBD1 connectors were cut by previous owner and he had put crimps on it. I tryed using a wire to short it to read the codes but it’s not working. Any ideas on how I can read my codes?
Hey parkeTR,
can you submit a picture?
used a short wire, just like you, on my 92 prelude and was able to get the codes. might have to strip the wires, crimp butt connectors to the wires and then try again. just an idea.
Was told also by someone else you can watch the light "blink" on the ecu to see the engine codes yet mine has after market ECU (from my understanding) and do not see any "lights" that blink when car is on.

I had looked intaide the crimps and they were not stripped. So I cut the crimps off and twisted the wires. I read the Code and I have A bad CYP sensor. I had to start my car for it to read and tell me what the codes were. I don’t exactly know why I had to start it to read them might be a short or an after market ECU I don’t know much about the car. But pretty much just twisted the wires read the code and pulled the fuse (which blew) and replaced it to reset the ECU. And as far as Light on the ECU that would be the OBD0
