1990 Accord - Oil Pan Replacement
Ok, this is my first post. I have a hole in the oil pan and my son has "no idea" how it got there.
So I bought a new oil pan & gasket and removed the old one successfully. I'm getting ready to put the new one on and noticed that 2 of the dozen or so bolts used to mount the pan are slightly shorter than the others, which I didn't notice when I was removing them. Does anyone know where those 2 bolts might go in reference to the bolt hole pattern?
Also, does anyone have any helpful advice for exactly how to mount the pan in relation to the gasket? In other words, should I apply liquid gasket to the pan (all over or only in certain spots?), next put gasket on the pan and secure it with the bolts, then mount the pan?
Or does the gasket go on the block first, using the bolt studs to secure it?
Sorry about all the questions, I just want to do this right the first time!

As far as your short bolt question goes, there should be 12 bolts (M6x18mm) and 2 studs (M6x28mm) with nuts. The location of the two studs is @ 1 and 2 locations as shown on the bolt tightening sequence picture above.
98-02 F23 did not use a gasket, just goo.
90-97 F22 did use a gasket.
If the gasket is not used on a F22 engine the oil pan may bottom out on the sump and cause an oil starvation issue.
You will only need to apply a dab of gasket sealant to the two corners of the 'U' at the rear of the engine on the block side.
Use Honda-Bond and a Honda gasket.
If you cannot locate a Honda brand gasket, use a Mahle/Victor Reinz brand gasket.

Didn't even notice that the posted instructions are for the 98-02 F23. That's not good, when the op is looking for an F22A. Good thing Mad_Mike is on the scene.
