Default weird electrical 1994 civic hatch

driving in the dark on the hiway then my right turn signal light comes on solid (I didnt put it on), not flashing. It is on on the dash and on outside. I turned off the lights and when I turned them back on it went off on the dash. Then the fuse blew for the dash and rear running lights went off. So I swapped in a new fuse and the running lights came back on but then the next day the turn light went on again solid and the rear running lights went out...

help!

Maybe you have a wire crossed? Check the wires coming out of the socket and see if there’s any copper showing.

Check the wires where they cross from the hatch door to the rest of the car. Open the hatch and shake the rubber tube with wires in it while the lights are on.

It also could be a bad ground. Seemingly unrelated electrical things will interact when they share a ground that has gone bad.

Maybe something wet ??? Check your corner lenses and tail light housings to see if you have water in any of them. Enough water to partially cover a bulb will cause a short and moisture inside of the bulb socket can cause auto illumination... which is what you are describing. Check what mk378 suggested as well... these are also good ideas and can contribute to your issues.

thank you for these ideas. I will look into it. Tracking down shorts seems tricky, I have borrowed a meter I can use, will this be helpful?
thank you for giving me some ideas as to where to start

I just got in there. The bulb for the right rear turn signal is going on constantly when the running lights are on. Looks liken the green wire coming out of the white plastic connector piece is showing bronze wire, as it is a little frayed at the connector. I am a little afraid too. Does this white plastic connector piece come apart? If so, I could try to fiddle with the wire more easily. Or I could try to wrap the frayed part with electrical tape...thanks!

i cant figure out how to get the clip apart to restrip the wire and put it back in firmly. Used a multileter and there is periods of no resistance between the metal nubbies inside and the frayed wire on the outside, so I dont know if that means the harness is cooked a bit. I was thinking I could cut this one wire and direct connect it to where it should go and see if that fixes it, any thoughts? thanks

edit: I was trying to fiddle with it when the lights were on to see if something was loose and it was very hot, i burned my thumb a bit, so I am guessing I may need to get a replacement part for this. I also found that some wires were twisted together with electrical tape over and the bulb that is staying on works (it is a single filament) but the bulb holder is not the right part for the car, the grooves do not line up properly. So someone at some point must have half-maguyvered it. It has worked fine for a few years though...amazing really. But maybe it is time to swap in the proper part. Now...junkyard or ebay...?

slow and steady (or unsteady), I have discovered a couple things:

there is a connector to the wiring harness for the rear outer bulbs and in this connector, one pin seems to be missing, perhaps it disconnected and it still in the car part of the connector - I will try to tell.
But my new goal is to try to remove the wires from the connector that goes to the bulbs and set tem in a bit more, as the green and yellow wire seems to be pulled out a bit. I believe this is the turn signal bulb? It has one filament. the other clear bulb has two filaments. then there is a small bulb which i believe in the running light. I went to a junkyard and accidentally got the wromg half of the connector...but I am trying to figure out how to get the wires in and out, it is a very small puzzle...any ideas? thank you!
