3500 rev limiter prob
I have a 93 del sol with a 94 d16z6 motor in it and have had lots of problems with the spark and timing lately. I pretty much got everveyrhit g fixed with getting it timed and got an external blaster 2 coil kit that I have installed with a new rotor, cap and also new ignition module. I feel like the car is running good it just now in every gear once I hit 3500 rpms it stutters kinda to where I just shift and it’s fine but downshifting stutters reall bad if it’s past 3500 rpms. Any ideas please help!😅
Won't rev over 3500 is the classic symptom of the timing belt being off by a tooth.
Set spark timing with a timing light using the proper procedure. Be sure you have the test jumper in place and that the ECU has acknowledged it is in test mode by turning the CEL on steady. Check that the crank pulley mark is correct by probing in cylinder 1 and the single notch should correspond to TDC of the piston. Set adjustable timing lights on zero and go by the group of three notches that are the proper amount BTDC. If spark timing doesn't come in near the center of the adjustment range, the cam timing is wrong.
The stock internal coil is a rather powerful ignition system. There's no need to "upgrade" it on any NA setup.
