Skunk2 Pro VS Stock B16a2 Intake for Turbo Application
So I got my car put together and running, and am almost ready to take it to the dyno. Ended up buying a Skunk2 Pro intake manifold, would I benefit from this? Will be running e85, 16psi boost, and revving to 8300RPM
Setup is as follows:
CRX, b16a2, stock head, Eagle H beam rods, JE 8.5:1 pistons, stock intake, stock TB, Turbonetics 5857, 2.5" intercooler piping, 3" open downpipe, 1000cc Precision injectors, Auto Works cast iron manifold with 38mm Tial wastegate.

‘it should flow better than the stock one and from me research it should unlock power at the higher rpms up to a certain power level (guessing 350-450) then the restrictions on air flow become a factor again and the better intake would be needed to free up airflow/power again

In the case of a B series, the S2 pro may or may not be of benefit. I've noticed myself the similarities between an LS intake and the S2 pro are striking..

Maybe a slight upgrade due to longer runners but, **shrug**
If you were running a D series, I'd be more prone to say yes, definitely. So if an LS intake is a clear upgrade to what the B16 has on it, your choice is simple. If it's only mild or even lateral, look to another brand.

Don't let that picture fool you the ls p75 intake manifold is considerably different. It has long skinny curved runners and a much smaller plenum then the skunk2 does.

Yeah, I see it on that side view now. Guess the pro would still be a good upgrade in terms of volume and flow. The straighter runners would certainly do some good. Aight, I DID say I wasn't sure. Lol!

I think S2 pro is intended to be port matched w whatever head and port work. Mine needs at least 20 thou off to match a mildly ported head but that's an H22

No need to waste your time. I'm over 540whp from even 7 years ago and didn't need an Ultra Street, with my Pro1 that i won't change. You'd make maybe 16whp more on the same boost level on an Ultra Street.

I made 540whp on a Dynapack with a stock B16A intake manifold and 64mm throttle on a 84x89 engine (20 - 22 psi @ 5500ft elevation). Switching to a Victor X and cast Skunk2 throttle body did pick up top-end power and extend my powerband, but it wasn't a day and night difference.
My personal opinion; anything up to 500whp won't see huge gains from an upgraded intake manifold and the B16A manifold can go quite far. On a B18C1 the gains are probably more substantial as you getting rid of the dual-runner setup.

Where does the engine plan on spinning most of it's time at? If its over 8k all the time, drag race only....Then an aftermarket intake manifold would help. If not, just stay with OEM manifold, throttle body and ITR cams (and if you have money to waste, tuner 1 cams) and be done.
