2004 civic LX K24a2 MT ecu
Hello, can someone pls tell me if I will be able to run my 2004 Civic LX with a K24a2/K20A 6spd lsd trans swap with a stock K24a2 MT ecu? Or do I NEED kpro? I'm keeping the motor stock, just adding exedy C/F i/h/e...I've been told it WILL work, and it WON'T work! Pls help, so I can start saving up for kpro if need be?
Another question is, do I need to use a k24a2 manual engine harness, or can I get by with a k20 harness and change out the crank sensor from the k24 to one from the k20? Thanks in advance!

The K24A2 in it's original application has a throttle body that is drive-by-wire and the ECU is constructed to run a DBW system. Your Civic LX has a cable actuated throttle body, so you will need a "K" series ECU from a cable actuated application like the '02-05 Civic Si or '02-04 RSX. Since the stock programming in these applications are completely different from what is required to operate a K24A2 properly, you will need K-Pro to alter the programming to properly tune your specific combination. You will need to use a K20 harness and swap the CKP sensor plug.
JRcivic1, thank you for the detailed message. Now I know exactly what ECU and harness to run and what sensor(s) need to be changed? I have ordered an 02-04 rsx type s ecu(prb-a04) from Steve @ hmotors. I will order the same year's harness as well as a k20 crank sensor. Also I'm upgrading to the rbc IM(recommend by steve). Throttle body wise, will a k20a2 throttle body be the way to go? Thanks again, u guys have all the definitive answers I've been searching for!
You do not need to change the crank sensor on the K24A2 to a K20A2 sensor... you only need to change the crank sensor plug on the K20A2 engine harness with the K24A2 style plug. The K20A2 throttle body is correct for the application although you will need an adapter plate to bolt the throttle body to the RBC intake manifold because it is not a direct fit.
