Default Chubludc2 needs to know - What to change and what has to go-B18C1 Turbo Project

Hello, I have a 2001 Acura integra GS-R, I've had the car for some time now and decided I definitely want to boost it, this is my first ever build so I'm a lil lost about some of the water hoses that are orginally on the motor for it being stock, I'll post some pictures so you can see what I'm talking about, please forgive me if my info is terrible but I'll be willing to answer anything or post more pictures please just let me know and thank you.

There are many forms of turbo charging a car, some people do it the cheapest way possible but that seems to always require maintenance and failure and others will spend the extra money to do things the correct way with quality parts and have better/longer lasting results...... What type person are you? This will help people recommend what you need to get going with your project

‘I miss read your post a little, but your list of parts looks like a very solid start

What are your goals for power? From your list, I'm guessing somewhere around 500 hp

Yes 500hp fingers crossed, I also was talking to a local mechanic, and referred this shop to me. https://cylindersupportsystem.com

He also mentioned buying double double valve springs and titanium retainers, and CP pistons, acl bearings, piston rods ARP main studs, and basicly ARP everything, so I'm in the process of tearing down the motor at the moment. So that's basically why I'm asking the questions of what do I do with some of these oil and water lines and so on and so forth, and also getting a hondata-s300-v3, and not entirely sure of a clutch and flywheel. The mechanic also mentioned cams and cam gears, so any further information is greatly appreciated.

im hoping to have my block back from CSS within the week, they do amazing work and the block should have no problems holding the power you want. I’m in the process of doing probably everything your asking about, have you went through my topic? ( making my return to the fold ) I’ve been asking question and getting answers for 4 months straight, my topic might help you get started

Are you going to swap in a manual rack from an EG Civic or depower the Integra rack?

Your list looks like a good start, as far as cams go if I’m not mistaken some GSR cams are a very good choice. And I don’t have the specs on that turbo, but you may be able to gain a little power from a set of ITR cams or Skunk2 Tuner 1. I’ve read aloft of guys have good luck with them in that power range. Good luck woth the build, it looks like your on the right track.

Ok so going off what your saying the skunk2 tuner 1 work with stock valves? Obviously still upgrade the springs and such, but aside from the valves they work well? If that's so that's a big relief man lol cause holy **** getting the head rebuilt for the valves all that stuff is great but its breaking my budget haha but I'll look into those from what I seen they're at about 600$ and the gears are 240$ sooo ohhhh not too bad lol

I already removed the power steering from this rack, so I'll keep it like this for now and later upgrade to a better on maybe not sure if I'll have to but we'll see

if I were you, roll your factory head. Many guys have. Maybe upgrade your springs, retainers, and lmas if you have the old style. And just use your GSR cams. Many guys do. I think you’d still be very pleased with the results. I think guys will use gsr cams until 500 HP with no issues. You can spend that money elsewhere and get better results.

but I do believe the s2t1 camshafts claim you be able to be put into a stock head. Although upgraded springs and retainers are always good, especially if you plan on visiting redline often.

You make a really good point on using that money else where cause I still have to buy a hondata, waste gate, bov, wide band and such lol so I might consider holding off the cams and just getting what I can out of my stock cams, but I'll definitely invest on some valve springs and retainers for sure lol cant do anything with out those parts.

That’s what I would try, use that cam money and pick out a Hondata S300 or Neptune demon. Make sure you get ahold of or research your tuner to see what platform they use. Not everyone uses both systems. But both systems perform very well.

The only thing that looks off is the manifold...you may want to downgrade to a ramhorn, minram....

^^^^ same as above wouldn’t do a top mount for 500 and street duty. Can’t wait to see how the s257 Borg does for you.

Why do you suggest downgrading the manifold?

Probably because of all the turd-ishness the top mount will provide for street use.

Topmount is good for higher rpm use. They do well, just not that great for street use; Laggy spool response. Topmount has the greater potential for power production since it is a true equal length runner, but, also the bottom of the spool response list. Go mini or full ram.

🤔 dang, I'm gonna have to rethink this, I was under the assumption that since my turbo is small, with my manifold being a top mount, having the smaller turbo will compensate in the lag department, I guess that theory is out the window lol, dang I'll have to see what I can do here.
