Fixing a motor swapped del sol
Hey guys, so I picked up a 94 del sol this weekend. They original owner clams it needs a new motor. The motor that is in it is not correct. According to the vin the sol should be an SI d16z6. It currently has a d16y7 motor in it. Id like to put the correct d16z6 back in it but an not sure what all they have changed. Ive ran the # on the head/block and its from an auto 97 car. Ive done some research on what is should have but im not sure what all I need to check to see what they have swapped besides the motor? The harness still has the pigtails for the vetc solenoid and pressure sensor so I believe the harness is original to the car. The ecu is a remanufactured one but appears to be the correct obd1 for the car but there are not any numbers on the outside of the case. Is there any way to verify the ecu? What else would have have changed to do a swap like this? motor/trans mounts? Any info is approached.
Take the lid off the ECU and get the three digit number off the largest primary chip and report back. Also, is there an auxiliary chip in the 28-pin location (27C256) ???
budget = just the motor swap and ecu if its incorrect
properly = z6 engine/si tranny and ecu if its incorrect plus maintenance parts like belts, seals and gaskets plus a clutch if the previous one is worn to shitsu.
