Engine break in

Hey fellas, I recently had the engine of my '93 civic dx coupe rebuilt. I have about 400 mi. on it, am taking it real easy. Want to know how long should I wait before starting to drive it normally? The shop that did the work just told me to bring it back in a couple months for an oil change. Nothing about how to break it in.

I had a rebuilt put in my 95 coupe. In Feb 2016. I watched my speed, and didn't pound on it.After 1000 miles I changed the oil/

The only thing you are breaking in is the rings, that happens in about the first 20 miles, and it’s done by putting load on the engine, via full throttle, and some part throttle at different rpms. Then you are good to go. This is how i broke in my boosted d16z6 and it never let me down, ran like a top, 30+ mpg at over 330whp. It was stolen after about 60k miles so i never got to see how far it would go.

not the same procedure as your old school big/small block american motors
