I know that there is many threads about this but I can't find everything I want to know.
I have bought 1997 civic ej8 with swapped d16y7 in it, it already has D16Z6 intake manifold but with y7 valve. It is really slow, clutch is worn out and it has y7 transmission.
I am planing to put D13 transmission on it and some cheap clutch and I am wondering if there is some cheap mods like this to make that motor breathe again. Also I didn't said, i have 4-1, straight pipe exaust.
I read about D16Z6 head swap on that motor, can someone write me what I need for it, what wiring should I use, what ecu, do I need maping and chipping or I can use like D16Z6 ecu or something, and most important question for D16Z6 head swap, will it have VTEC after that without maping?
I'M REALLY SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH, HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND
If you want to do a head swap to gain vtec, a y8 head would be easier to swap onto the y7 block vs a z6 head because it is an obd2 head going on to an obd2 block and use a stock y8 ecu.
My d16y7 with an aftermarket header matched to stock exhaust is suprisingly peppy on the top end. It's not fast by any means, but just freeing up a little exhaust flow by moving the cat a little further back and adding an intake make the car feel like a go cart. I also have d16y7 with z6 intake manifold
The y8 cylinder head would be much easier and much easier to swap. The search function on this website has much information, you have to make sure you search correctly and organize results by relevancy and select only the 1992-00 civic forum or hybrid swap forum to search
