Type R swap times
I got a b16 swap that i found on craigslist the other day and was told it had a Type R head and that the b16a2 bottom end was rebuilt with type R internals, I threw in the ecu that i got with the swap that had some kind of tune on it and ran a 14.1 in my ek hatch, but was still wondering how i might be able to identify if it was truly a Type R
ITR heads are PR3 stamped, same as B16 heads, so you'd have to disassemble the engine to find out. You could take just the valve cover off and if it has dual valve springs on both the intake and the exhaust, it could be an ITR. I don't know of a good way to figure out the pistons unless you can shine a flashlight down the spark plug tube and read the stamps on them. That or get a bore scope.
