Total loss or worth rebuilding?
This is my second thread for my Honda Accord (F22A1) since I’ve moved on from the problems on the first one. I’ve learned I spun a bearing in the block, I’ve determined the sound I mentioned was the bearing breaking and the horrible noise was the spun rod. I can rock the rod back and forth from underneath. I’ve asked several of my friends and it’s mixed on either to fix it or get a new block. So my question is, is it worth buying new bearings and installing them while the engine is still in the car, or to go to a pick n pull and get a block and use my new head on it? It’s only one rod that I can move with my hand, the rest seem to be pretty sturdy but if I was to replace the one I would do them all obviously.

When a rod gets that bad the engine needs to come out of the car as the crank has also been damaged. Given how plentiful your engine is in junk yards, it is the best and cheapest solution to simply buy another motor and drop it in.

I'm not a four banger kind of guy; hopefully others will chime in here on this topic. That said, it will be a heck of a lot less work if you simply buy the full long-block and put it in.

Yea like most this will be pretty easy if you've done this before. Not much to it. Most yards have plenty of these, just try to find something that will match your trans.
