Complete engine swap w 2 cars, how hard?
I have a good running 1994 EX ABS rear disk Auto with a rusty body. I want to swap drivetrain and rear disks into 1996 DX(?) no ABS rear drum car. Is it an easy plug and play swap?
I can't speak on a 94 to 96 accord directly, but i am currently turning my daily 98 civic DX hatch automatic into a 2000 Si that came into my shop after a tree fell on it and totaled it. I started 2 weekends ago and am just about finished up , I probably have 5 days into it so far as well as 2-3 hours each morning when i get into work early and can get some time in on it. But it is not as easy as just "plug and play" theres a whole lot that goes into it since you're going from obd1 to obd2, just for mine swapping from obd2a to obd2b, wiring up the entire interior harnesses (main, floor, and rear) to run the rear wiper alone has many hours into it, cutting out the center of the body for the shifter had to get rid of the part for the auto transmission cable and put in the manual shifter surround weld all that up, its a very big job if you don't have the knowledge or experience, swap at your own risk, I am a mechanic and build cars for a living, this just happens to be my first honda I've built, so just joined this forum to get some insight on my swap as well.
Do a lot of research if it seems overwhelming don't start it, you'll most likely just end up with 2 junk non running cars. Good luck

Brakes should be, but you're basically taking entire rusty assembly with you from both sides. Engine swap is not simple plug and play because there is a large difference in wiring and sensor location as well as the fact you are also changing motor types from probably a f22b2 to a f22b1. Additionally you would need to source an appropriate ecm to retain your obdii if your state requires inspection
More specific details are needed. There are plenty of write ups here and other web sites.

Not necessarily plug and play but not difficult. Certainly easy enough for any competent DIYer to handle. For the engine swap you will need to use the 96 wiring harness, injectors, oil pump, distributor, alternator, etc on the 94 engine. Wiring up VTEC is no big deal but it would need to be done. You would have to source a 96-97 EX ECU because the 94 ECU will not work on the 96.
Rear disk swap is cake with a donor car but do it right and replace rotors, pads, worn bushings, etc while you're down there.

I am considering doing a manual install into my auto Accord. I'd love to do it myself but I've never taken on such a job. Would a forum member with the tools and experience needed be willing to do the job for me, assuming I was allowed to help in order to learn how to do it? I'd pay for both the job and pay for the privilege of helping.
Well, key points to consider are that I do not need emissions. Obviously, I have all the wire harness I need. I just dont know if I can unplug the computer from inside and (physically) plug my 1994 right up to the 1997 connector. Then, is there another plug in the engine compartment that plugs into the engine harness or do I have to physically get the harness (if there is even an access hole big enough) through the firewall? Can I just use the OBD2 "harness"? The connectors look about the same. It seems all the parts I would need to swap are good, aka no rust. Only the outside body panels have rust.

Another thing on top of that which gives me a little hope is that the speed cluster, dash, climate controls etc is the same as well as all the interior, so, its from the same generation. It seems "logically" possible its all unplug, replug and play but I just dunno. There could always be a wire that is crossed I miss and trips me up. I dont think there is much information out there that says yay or nay. I would have to get shop manuals and all that to make sure, but, I was hoping someone might know before I spend a week of hellish research on something that is already known.
