Default Mini Me Builds

I'm curious to see how other people built their Mini Me's, I started with a 94 Civic DX with a D15B7 and put a D16Y8 head on it, tuned with Hondata threw on Skunk2 intake manifold and throttle body, a generic CAI, DC 4-2-1 header, yonaka catback, AEM fuel rail with a pressure gauge, used an AEM variable cam gear, and mated the engine to a Syncrotech transmission. I used this forum for the distributor, how to wire the vtec, and the higher torque values.

Ugly purple, which will be painted over. Taking suggestions on color.

Almost finished

You say it's tuned, so you are done?

Have you put this on a dyno to see the output?

The Civic I'm currently putting together is this color also. I wasn't a fan when I got it, but the ugliness has grown on me. I'm going to leave mine this color. I even sprayed up a spare valve cover in purple wrinkle paint last week to see what I thought...definitely ugly enough to be cool, but it doesn't match the purple of the car. Sorry for the thread jack!

Krauthammer - so is the gearbox just a fresh rebuild, or does it have any goodies? To answer your initial question, I didn't do a mini-me, mine already had a Z6 in it. I'm going fully built for boost. Hoping to start reassembling the engine around the new year.

it's just mocked up for the picture.

It hasn't been tuned yet, but has the hondata tuner in it. I got it running this morning but dealing with timing belt slapping and a fuel leak.

I will dyno it after taxes. Considering I fix the belt slap (most likely a tensioner) and the fuel leak coming from the fuel filter.

I called up Syncrotech and dumped some deployment money into a custom trans, my buddy did all the specs so I don't know any thing about it other than carbon synchros and a stage 2 clutch

She is finally running, and I asked my buddy about the tranny, he said it's LSD, carbon synchros, and a 5 speed made by Syncrotech. Took her for a test drive, nothing crazy but I let her breath a bit. It's quick. And if you don't get that shift just right she is brutal. The compression makes it sound like a tractor engine, i'm loving it so far. Getting her tuned soon so I can actually open her up.

I was debating a vtec head swap but after pricing everything out, including new head gasket and ecu, it seemed like $500 for 18hp bump at the flywheel was not a sound investment in time or labor.

I wound up just doing an intake swap to get rid of the terrible looking y7 intake

junkyards are your best friend. I did mine mostly new, but my buddy did a junkyard build and only spent about 350 on parts.

I like those blue hoses btw. What brand?

They say samco, but it's bottom dollar eBay $40 set I use for all of my builds. Blue was the cheapest this time at $38 shipped for an 8 piece set, red sets were $60 for some reason

Sweet! Trying to go all black with blue accents. So I'll probably be stealing those hoses and spark plug wires from you. Nice setup btw. Very clean
