Hi there I can’t find my ECU in my lx civic I’ve checked under the kick panel on the passengers side and there’s nothing any other places it would be? Thanks

 

Please take pictures of under the carpet of the passenger kick panel and post them here.

Also what country market car do you have? i.e. USDM

Isn't New Zealand a "Right Hand Drive" market ??? If so, the ECU should be on the Left side of the vehicle... which would be the passenger side.

 

I’ve looked on the left hand side under the carpet but nothing. How do I upload photos the former it won’t let me. Also the car was carby so does this mean it dosnt have an ecu?

 

Yes it is right hand drive

 

If it has carbs, I don't think it will have an ECU, but I'll let others chime in for sure.

 

I was under the impression that some carb models had an OBD0 ecu.

The other challenge is the OP said "WAS" carb, so implies it has been converted. If this is true, then will have to follow the engine harness through the firewall or engine compartment location the swapper put the ECU.

 

sorry it has not been converted yet I’m swapping in a b18c. Would you know where the location of the ecu could be? Also could I wire in the wiring for the ecu without having to rewire the car?

 

I think I may have had a misunderstanding.

Looking up OBD0 for Honda, the FSM page seems to indicate one code for Fuel Injector which would not be a Carb model. The OBD0 ECU's appear to be located in the same place as the OBD1 ECU under the carpet on the passenger kick panel area. OBD0 ECU's had the trouble code LED on the ECU itself.

As for wiring, you should be able to wire it without changing out your complete harness. You would choose if you incorporate your wiring into the existing harness or run externally of existing harness. You will also very likely have to update many of your existing harness' plugs and possibly have to repin others (move pins around). However, to keep your existining harnesses, you will need to learn what goes where (wire routing) as well as be able to identify redundant and missing wires to know what is needed, what can be utilized and what needs to be added.

On HA Motorsports I found some Honda Carb models did have a computer:

However, to find yours you will have to see if there are any electrical connections to your carb. Then you would need to trace the wires through the harness and find if it plugs into some sort of computer. Of which you would then know where that computer is from following the wires.

I tend to think you probably don't have an ECU but it does seem possible that you could.
