Default Motor Mounts?

I'm not sure if this is an isolated incident or not. But I bought these Hasport mounts back in May of this year. Installed the engine in July. And now it's November and this is what they look like! And I running a 92 B18A1 with a 55 shot off a zex kit. I have a lifetime warranty. They're supposedly sending me new bushings that I have to press in. So I'll probabley give these Hasports one more try. But i'm just wanting to to know of other company's that make better grade mounts. I was thinking of place racing. But I've heard of a couple people having hood clearance problems. I'm thinking of getting different mounts. By the way, it's a 89 CRX that this is in.

I hope mine don't do that

They have a race compound insert maybe that would help?

Just so you feel better......I HAVE seen this happen to the HaSport mounts. Ive done MANY B-series into EF's using these mounts, but they were the older welded mounts with the ORANGE bushings. I have pics just like you of what happened. Ususally its the rear mount that breaks down and the tranny mount and drivers mount SHIFTS back towards the firewall.

Although Im a little dissappointed about the time/labor lost due to changing the mounts out, but HaSport did press in new BLACK bushings for me under warranty. I had to lose the labor time and pay for shipping the mounts to them.

Now, being a shop, I will have multiple sets of mounts on hand to swap it in right away. I figure this would be a bad case for someone who cant afford to have a second set on hand or afford to have their car down while their mounts get fixed.

I have not seen a set of the Billet mounts go bad yet personally, but a friend of mine this past summer said he ran into someone at a local wisconsin track that had the billet mount bushing breaking up already.

Time will tell I guess.........but HaSport will warranty their mounts. You will lose time and labor though......and shipping.

All in all, I will continue to use their mounts. The guys at HaSport are great. They have an ear to listen to my feedback concerning their products and are helpful for any questions I may have.

We are all in it for the same goal.......to improve the product and getting a happy end result for the customer. Their customer service is what many companies out there should have.

Well, thanks for the input. Maybe I'll buy another set of mounts to replace these wile there getting fixed. But I was told by Hybrid Garage that I installed them wrong???????? Now how do you install motor mounts wrong? It's not like there is any room for adjustment or anything .... But anyway, I was thinking of the HCP (EF-18X 4-Piece Mount Kit). Is anyone here running that kit? And have you had problems with the mount bushing's shredding like mine pictured above? And HandCommand, thanks for the info. At least I'm not the only one this has happened to. Hopefully Hybrid Garage will get on the ball and send me some new bushing's.

My rear mount looks just like your mount. I have a b16a swap in my EF. The mount been like that now for about a year now I haven't changed it yet. I don't even know if I'm coming going to change it. Oh yeah I have the hasport mounts with the old school orange bushing not the new ones with the billet look to them.

Youre welcome ROADRAGE about the feedback. Why bother buying another set of mounts when you have already purchased the HaSports? They will warranty the bushings. You will lose time and labor replacing them.

Let them make it right for you. Just ship it back to them and they will press in new bushings.

They are in a difficult position.........make the bushings too soft.....they breakdown.

Make the bushings too hard.......people complain of VIBRATION!!!!!!!!

If people want a smooth vibration free EF? They should buy a JDM chassis or have an expert re-weld the U.S. chassis to use the JDM mounts.

Either that or ditch the EF chassis and get an EG or EK swap for a B-series swap

Good luck and keep me posted.

well got my motor swap jdm b16A1 and i got Place racin mounts the only thing is the bushing ( which is made of semiclear stuff ) ont driver side has slipped a little out but nothin seems wrong. besides that they work great and i get now rocking at all, therefore they're are stiff so it does vibrate the car, but all well a small price for good performance mount. LOL its like a lil massage.

I've used HAsport, place, mad, and hcp mounts. By far I think HAsport is a better mount than all the others, if you keep breaking bushings maybe you have torqued the mount to much or to little. I have never broken a HAsport mount and i'm running a b16 with a custom turbo kit and a big fat set of slicks.

Please keep in mind that here in Minnesota, the mounts will see more drastic changes in temperature, than over in Cali or Arizona. Im looking out the window now and there are snow flurries outside. Making products to withstand the Heat of Arizona or the Cold of Minnesota and everything in between can be quite an accomplishment.

That is true, to solve your problem get a new bushing pressed into your HAsport mounts and then move out to CA.

That's not typical by any means. Our street urethane is a 62A durometer which is not as stiff as the other mount companies and therefore has slightly less durability. We use the softer urethane to reduce the vibration that comes with the our competitors mounts. If tearing continues to be a problem, we do have a 70A stiffness urethane which is the same as our competitors, that has a ton more durability. It is just unusual for even the softer urethane to fail like that.

Thanks for all info everyone. I'm staying with the Hasport Mounts. I'll just have to go with a little stiffer compound. Hopefully my cd player will still play lol.

Update............... I received my new bushing's (Race Compound). There's definitely a little more vibration. But hopefully these will last a little longer. These were easy to put in as well (2 piece bushing). Bushing's them selves can be pushed in by hand. The only thing that was tricky was the metal insert in the middle of the bushing. Cheap 30 dollar press from eBay took care of that. And the rear tranny mount was definitely a pain to line back up. I should of just got Race compound for the rear mount, And Street Compound for the Right and Left Mounts. That may have cut down on the vibration a little. The Rear Tranny mount defiantly looked the worst. I believe that one caused the Right side mount bushing to go bad due to the engine sagging towards the firewall.
