Swap and Ecu question!!!
Hey guys ive been searching and reading just wanted to ask a quick question. I am in the middle of a project. I have a 99 civic ex auto i currently am hunting down parts for 5spd swap and i have acouple of other things bought already my question to you guys is i have a 95 gsr head so obd1. if i get a obd1 gsr block to go with it what else do i need parts and wiring wise to make it all work. and what if i got a obd2 gsr block? i need to purchase block still but want to know what i would need either way i go. thanks alot. ive read some of the stickies but i couldnt get a real clear idea with mysetup and trying to understand it all
The obd2 block will have the mount for the ckp sensor so you can use a stock obd2 ecu. You would need to install a 96 or newer oil pump on the obd1 block to do the same.
this all depends on emissions testing where you live. does your obd-2 port need to work? if so, you're going to have to make it play nicely with an obd-2 ecu. if this isn't an issue for you, you're in luck- you can take advantage of an obd-1 ecu and tuning options. in any case, you'll want a 99-00 civic ex m/t harness for simplicity's sake. if you can run obd-1, a jumper harness and chipped ecu of your choice.
