Water pump failed?? Need advice.
I have a 96 civic ex. The radiator cracked along the top, i replaced it. Then after when i started the car, the top hose started swelling up and there was a lot of pressure in the system. The cooling fan did not turn on. I think it is the water pump not working.
I think the thermostat has been stuck open, so the temp has always been low. But the temp did rise the first time it started after i replaced the radiator. I turned it off when i saw the top hose swelling. It hasnt cranked since.
since the thermostat is always open, the "normal" running temp is always at the bottom of the cool gauge. So after the radiator replacement, the temp went up to the mid point on the gauge. That would probably be at the hot end.

Operating temp is supposed to be at that level. Try a new rad cap, and bleed the system properly before you jump to conclusions.
If it’s a d series you have to loosen the bleeder bolt on the upper hose too.
And if it’s not cranking now that has about nothing to do with anything that you mentioned. Fix the no crank first.
