I have 5-speed 1995 Civic Ex coupe with overheating problems. I just replaced the thermostat. I changed the fuse for the radiator fan and added coolant system repair in the radiator to fix a minor leak and it did. However, I think the additive screwed up the gasket in my water pump. (And I think I should get a new one) My timing belt was replaced right before I bought this car so I don't think I need to get another, right? Also, my heat either doesn't work or takes forever to work. There is pressure in the system, though not for long, seeing that the coolant eventually escapes.

Any pointers on what I should do, look for, or replace? I've been studying how to replace a water pump on youtube and going to the junk yard to practice on some hondas before hand.

Looks like you clogged up the coolant flow in your heater core and possibly radiator too unfortunately. NEVER use that stuff! But yes if you're doing a water pump, you might as well replace the belt too (seals if needed). They aren't expensive and you have to take the belt off anyway.

Also with coolant loss and over heating, do you know if your head gasket is okay?

Word of the wise: Honda rad's are VERY simple to replace, generally pretty cheap as well, replacing is a wiser option than additive.

Agree with tomcat, sounds pretty typical for head gasket leakage. Ive replaced an entire cooling system before and each thing I changed would show improvement,then just bring me back to the same situation... partially blown head gasket. I eventually tore the head off, popped a new gasket on, torqued it down and have not had a single issue since. Water pump started going out about 10k miles later, leaking coolant all out of the timing cover. HG change isnt the worst job but def not a lot of fun.
