ok, here is my deal. i just got done rebuilding my car. everthing is perfect except when im driving it, it wont start to boost until 6000-7000RPM. i had a feeling it was the wastegate arm being bent so i disconnected the arm and went full boost to check but again it dont boost until 6000-7000RPM. i have no idea what it could be except that i have the Power FC and it was sset to 10.6 compression and now i am running 9.2. maybe that effected it but i highly doubt it. also i was thinking maybe the turbo kit which was for a GSR was not the right turbo for my car and the impellars on teh compressor and turbin shaft are angled wrong for that low of compression. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME IF ANYONE OUT THER CAN I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!

 

What engine?
WHat turbo?
How old is turbo?
Have you taken the intake off and seen if there is any shaft play or if the turbine spins freely?

Basics first................Since it seems like you had the work done for you, check for boost leaks in the IC piping, etc.........a simple mistake after putting things back together. Also, make sure no leaks around your BOV, and that it's adjusted correctly. If your turbo is not getting oil, it might also be causing your problem.

turbo = greddy 18g
the turbo is about 1 1/2 years old
and it has a minnimal shaft play i am having XS engineering dyno it next week they said they think its teh comp just wanted to get some inputs before i go and see if i camn fix it with some simple ideas

sounds like it could be a boost leak somwhere or exhaust leak.
does it boost below 6500 at all? or does it just spike to full boost when you hit 6500

 

on an internally gated turbo doesn't disconnecting the arm allow the flapper to open because there is nothing holding it shut? Did you have some way to hold it shut when you disconected it?

 

yeah i held it shut also. and no it dont boost at all before 6500 then it builds boost like a normal turbo would. so at about redline im hitting full boost potential..
