Default turbo install 98 crx, pipe clearance

1989 that is, cant edit the title it seems...!
I am putting a T4 kit into an 89 CRX....ran into some roadblocks along the way, certainly not plug and play, but whatever. My latest issue is with the supplied exhaust. I cant quite get it into position because part of the elbow runs into the frame. Its the part of the frame that runs across, behind the bottom of the radiator. I was thinking about cutting a relief in the frame section to allow the pipe to slide into that area, so that the flange will line up.

Has anyone done this? That part of the frame is a tube so to speak, not round of course, but hollow inside, so if I take a 3 by 3 section out of 1/4 of the "diameter" so to speak I think that will weaken it a bit, but there would still be the rest of that frame piece intact....any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!!!

cut it
no bolt on turbo kit can bolt on with out cutting
thats a fact

the only way to make it fit with out cutting the frame is to make the kit yourself

My son, whos car this is, says he wants to race the car, and whatever governing body handles that race says no frame modifications...although Im not sure a relief cut for a pipe would violate the spirit of that....I THINK its some sort of autocross he wants to do with this....I will have to clarify with my son and see. We though about cutting the pipe and adding on to it to go another direction but the way it points, it wont really work out.

You can replace the cross member with a traction bar setup to get more clearance.

thats a first i here about no modifying your car for a race
i used to race autocross back in the day and i mean waaaay back in the day with the scca calling the shots
if thats the people that are setting up the race then yes you can cut the frame

remember that the part you want to cut isnt the frame its the headlight slash radiator support
im assuming?

last I knew (I bought mine 6 years ago) this was one of the best traction bar set ups available.

Link to picture of clearance after installation, as I cannot seem to post a picture here.
