Default D18Y7 Vs. D16Z6 Crankshafts

Are the D16Y7 crankshafts interchangeable with D16Z6 crankshafts? If they are not, what are the differences? Are there any good pictures?

What is a D18Y7 ??? Do you mean a D16Y7 ??? If so, they are similar but not the same. Oil starvation has always been the problem with the "D" series engines, and the Z6 crank has better oiling compared to the Y7 crank. The snouts are slightly different in length. The main and rod bearings are the same for either crankshaft.

after I spun a rod bearing 5 years ago on my Y7 I did the oil pump mod that may still be floating around out there. the reason Z6 cranks have better oiling is in part due to the chamfered/radiused journal supply ports. these can be added to a Y7 crank to make it as good as a Z6. I've got 90k trouble-free miles of anecdotal evidence to that point.

Thank you JRCivic1 - I made a typo. What I am interested in is: how are the oil feeds from the main journals on the D16Z6 different than those on the the D16Y7 crankshafts?

Chamfer or radius the oil holes in both the rod and main journal oil passage holes... and if you want to increase the volume as well, you can "teardrop" the trailing edge of the oil passage hole too.

If you want to see what I mean, look at post number 6 in my build thread below.
