Rear Caliper protector purpose (5th gen)
I am aware of the splash guard which is bolted to the hub (front and rear) on the 5th gens, but what is the purpose of the protector on the rear brake calipers? The OE part number is 43255-SR3-932. Is it okay to leave these off?
Well if you don't want mud an dirt etc to get on caliper an possible rust an jam it up, I would leave it. But if it's a show car that will never see the road an only inside a car hauler or building OR where you live dust an mud an perfect weather is unheard of then sure leave it off. 👍
Isn’t that the purpose of the splash guard though? Maybe the splash guard is more for protecting the hub/wheel bearing or back of the rotor?
(by splash guard, I mean OE part number 43254-SK7-020)

Sounds like the description of the splash guard. Still not convinced that the protector does something different. My real question is: what’s the difference between the two?
the addition of the e-brake mech and mounting angle makes this area more prone to contaminates and possible road debris. (not only when driving, think falling stuff from above after driving) hence the additional cover.
