Default Filler neck replacement

I am in the middle of replacing the neck on a 2007 Civic LX and the clip on the venting tube has me baffled. How does that undo without breaking it ? It is a gray plastic collet that has two tabs on each side that either push in or something but I can't figure it out and I know that Honda parts are designed to destroy themselves very easily .

Are you referring to the quick-connect fitting?

Yes that is the connector I was referring to. I sprayed WD 40 between the nylon and the tube to break free the 8 years of crude and grease in it and it worked as expected and as your response stated it should. Just a heads up about P0947 / P1454 /P0496. These are all evap codes I had all three and a code store after 5 engine starts with an almost immediate pending on P0947.

Original OEM gas cap bought from stealership , same problem. Purge valve replaced and P0947 cleared and went away other two remained with an almost immediate pending on P1454 and both storing after about 3 days of driving.

Changed the filler neck and pressure tested the tank to 5 PSI and it held for 4 hours with no pressure drop , that left canister and solenoid not accounted for , solenoid triggered on 12 volt and released as expected so looked at the canister.

Changed the canister , P1454 cleared and went away , P0946 remained and almost immediate pending , got tired of Honda's BS codes and smoked the evap system , **** gas cap sold by Honda , replaced 4 weeks after buying it with a Canadian Tire gas cap , no more immediate pending on P0946 but storing after about three days still.

Replaced vent valve solenoid (BWD CPV98) , immediate clear on the pending and all but EVAP monitors are now reset and clear and live monitor showed expected/actual is now within .0043% of expected @3200 RPM after 15 minutes of driving so it looks like it's finally gone and waiting for monitor to reset to confirm.

2007 Honda Civic LX EVAP hell , take anything from this if you think it will save you some steps and not waste time like I did looking in the wrong place because of a useless EVAP monitoring system. I changed all the parts myself and it would have cost 1155$ for the dealer to do this. Their methodology of throwing parts at it until it clears had solenoid as the 4th component to check. (Gas cap , canister , purge valve , vent valve. , full filler neck , fuel tank pressure sensor is the order that they will "troubleshoot" this no matter what EVAP code it throws. They will not check the actuators or smoke the system without replacing the first two parts , I told them to shove their incompetent "help" where they least wanted it and left. Searching for Vent purge valve will yield nothing on google and you will constantly be brought back to Evap purge valve (They are related but completely different) search for BWD CPV98 for this and this part number if not in stock will give you the OEM number and other third party numbers of the same part. Third party is 112$ CAD and Canadian Auto Parts service , 195$ at Honda and it is never sold with the Canister and make sure that the gray cap comes with it.

Hope this helps someone avoid this EVAP hell because the DTCs will be as helpful as an ashtray on a motorcycle when it comes to pinpointing which part. I still had the tank , pressure sensor and feeder hoses to the canister but sheer luck stopped the parts carnage before that. .

If you replace the solenoid valve yourself DO NOT lubricate the seals at all , anything except air passing through will gunk up the valve in about 3 months so press fit only and use the gray cap that comes with it and do not use the old one.
