99 d16y8 Head gasket - cylinder head/engine block
3rd and 4th block
1st and 2nd cylinder
Full shot block... rust :X
Full shot cylinder
1st and 2nd kcm
Check out the middle of cylinder
3rd and 4th cylinder
Check it out I finally removed my head...

I need to know the fill-gap size for max amount of gap for both block and cylinderhead.
another big issue...

there is rust in my block and the cylinderhead.
is it bad to the point i shouldn't work on it?

Also If you u look at picture of "middle of cylinder head" you can see the valves on 3rd and bottom ones and 2nd top ones are slightly opened.

i dont know what happened....
previous owner must have used water and/or Oil change shop. I only use oem.
Not sure... pervious owner I am guessing. U shoulda checked out the radiator. *_*

I would suggest downloading the FSM, it has the information you need on how much you can take off before the head can no longer be used.
You can take the head to a machine shop to clean up and reassemble

Examining the old head gasket is usually the best clue to where it blew out. The "fire ring" area is the most critical.
Is that missing metal at the intake side of #3 or just some black gunk?
And yes the cooling system is really crudded up.

When the camshaft is left "in cylinder head" when the head is removed, there will be at least two pair of valves open at any given position.
