Picked up a VX model back in October and it has been my project ever since my Integra got totaled from being rear ended.

I did not know much about the differences between the DX, EX, VX, and SI models of the hatches til now.

I am aware that the VX model did not come with AC in it.

I have swapped in my B18C1 motor into this hatch and now I'm trying to put an AC system into.

I have pieced the condenser, condenser fan, compressor, lines, dryer.

My questions are:

Do I need to pick up and evaporator from a civic that has AC equipped?

Does my car have the harness plug for the AC harness?

I know I am missing the AC harness, but are there other things I need to complete this project?

i have the same 92 eg vx and im on the same proccess even tho i dont have all the parts you already have im very interested to see how it turns out so i can try to do the same. best of luck im looking forward to see how it comes out.

 

 

If your car is AC ready there will be a plug near the right headlight with about 8 wires that doesn't go anywhere. Also the control panel has a blank cover over the A/C button on the right end of the row of buttons.

Behind the battery there should be an oval hole in the firewall. This is where the connection block from the evaporator sticks through. The non-AC had an empty duct between the blower and the heater units. You would remove that duct and install the evaporator box. This is done by taking the glove compartment out, there is no need to remove the whole dash.

 

If you didn't grab the evaporator yet, might as well get one from an EK or a CRV that has the pollen filter. Check out Deschlong's write-up:

If you're up to it, you might put in a new expansion valve while you're in there, too.

My VX came with AC but it needed service and I figured, if you're going to be cracking open the system anyway, might as well do the swap. Nice and cool now. Good luck on the install and have fun with the VX.
