Default Oil leak between oil filter and VTEC solenoid

I've got oil leaking right above the oil filter and below the VTEC solenoid. Motor's a K20z3.

It looks like a sensor, and is surrounded by a black rubber shroud. Sensor's wires go up nearby the valve cover.

Here's a video of it. Video starts off looking at the right fender well, and looks between the oil filter and VTEC solenoid. A black rubber shroud can be seen center-screen.

Any help's appreciated.

Would it really kill you to record a video when it's sunny out ? I just don't understand how people can go in their garage with the lights off and flash a light and expect people to easily make out what they are looking at.

Then you can just pan as much around the area as possible instead of giving a halfway pan of the area.

Here's a photo I found online of the same motor. The sensor I'm describing is the green part extruding directly above the oil filter (big red circle).

The black shroud is covering the oil pressure sending unit. It's a tapered thread (pipe fitting) sensor.

If it's leaking there, you replace the sensor. The metal to plastic mating has lost it's seal and it can't be fixed.

Be cautious and don't over tighten. The tapered thread seals up the hole but over tightening is known to snap the threaded head off in the block.

Any suggestions on torque? Service manual doesn't mention it.

Thanks a lot.

I didn't do a specific torque, once it started resisting I did about 2/3 to 1/2 turn and called it a day.

You could do finger tight and then one full turn.

Don't forget, the z3 has the oil cooler, there is an o-ring behind it. Not sure on the K24's but wouldn't be surprised if they do too.

On mine, I've replaced the vtec "filter" gasket, the oil pressure sending unit and the oil cooler o-ring. I think I've got mine fixed finally.
