Default Changed my clutch, one problem.

Alright, I succesfully changed my clutch. It took about 6-8 hrs of total labor. Not all that bad, it sure is a biatch to do though. Anyway, it feels good (still waiting for 500 miles to be up) and everything is working alright. However, I have one problem...now whenever I am going over about 50 mph and I hit the brakes, the abs starts going off. Even, when I BARELY press the brakes. Its definitaly not normal. All I do is turn the abs off by holding the e-brake up for 20 seconds, and its fine. I would sorta like to have my ABS working, so does anyone know what could have gone wrong? We didn't connect something, broke something etc? Thanks!!

You took of probably you driver side axle right? Check that, check everything including bolts to make sure every thing is tight but mainly check the wheel speed sensor to make sure its pugged in/gapped correctly/not broken. The abs light only comes on if there is a problem. I doubt that anything connected to the tranny would be connected to the abs except maby the vechicle speed sensor.

isnt there something like an abs ring around the axle somewhere? could have possibly forgotten that?

This is weird, ever since my throwout bearing started squeaking my ABS light has been on. I've checked the speed sensor and everything too, I'm about to break down and take it to Brake Depot or something.

edit, probably just a coincedence, but weird nonetheless.

there is a built on ring that is on the axle itself. it kindalooks like a small ring gear that is what the ABS runs off of as far as axles run.. check to make sure they didnt crack or brake the line that runs near the brakes (senses the ring gear on the axle)

check the clearance betweet the sensor and the ring on the axle. At speed the sensor cannot tell how fast the wheel is turning if the distance between them are too little or too much. Check your Helm's manual it tells you the distance I think its like .050 or somthing like that. Worth a try.
