Default Possible Relay Box?

Good morning/afternoon/evening,

I was wondering if someone could kindly help me please on a matter of urgency. So I've recently had to purchase a 96 JDM Spec DC2 dashboard loom that connects to the cluster, fuse box, heater console etc. (Smaller loom *number 4 on diagram*)

I've encountered a plug that has 3 wires connected to a 3/4 pin plug. This is a JDM loom baring in mind, the colours are as follows;

Wire 1: Black
Wire 2: Red and Black
Wire 3: Red and Yellow

I'm thinking that this needs to be plugged into a relay and may have some involvement with VTEC but if anyone can shed any light on this, this would be greatly appreciated.

If you do know what this is, please could you also point me on the right track to where I can buy the correct relay for this as I've spent countless hours trying to find what I need to ensure that I don't have a wiring surge like the last loom. (Done by previous owner)

Just to confirm, the car is a DC1 which had a B18C4 conversion done by the previous owner which consisted of converting the car from Non-VTEC to VTEC which the last loom had been spliced into to assume convert to make the car run which is why I have this issue now and whatever this plug belongs to on the JDM DC2 96 Spec loom is now spare and I'm lost.

I can't say for certain on the dc2 chassis but I do know the 96-00 civic uses a relay for the oem alarm on the the cabin harness. You have to un plug sort of a dummy type plug to plug the relay in . Without the relay or plug the car won't start.

1. Generally, most relays used on Hondas/Acuras are 4 to 5 wires (2 wires (power and ground) to energize the relay coil, and another 2 or 3 wires for power or ground to pass through (after the relay contacts are open or closed; depending on type of relay). -- So, that is probably not for a relay.

2. The wire colors shown in the photo are considered: Black, Red/Blk (Red insulation with Blk runner), and Yel/Red (Yellow insulation with Red runner).

3. Usually, Red/Blk wiring in the Honda interiors are related to interior illumination; power side. If that was the case here, the Blk is the ground and the Red/Blk is for power. -- The connector probably plugs into something that is illuminated when the headlights/parking light are switched on.

With a voltmeter, test for power (+) on the Red/Blk wire when you turn on the headlights to see if that is the case.
