Got lucky and scored an optional audio console for a whopping $20usd. The ashtray is missing and the trim it and the lighter is mounted to is broken. It's a clean break and def repairable, I was going to super glue it since its hidden behind the console but I figured you guys might know a better way. Also is there ANYWHERE or ANYONE I can get the ashtray from? The chances of running up on another anytime soon are slim to none and I def don't want to drop $300+ for a complete one. Maybe someone has the OEM part numbers? I've ordered TONS of new old stock stuff for my 1986 Mazda B2K from the dealer but our local Honda dealer acted like I was crazy trying to order parts for my 1993 hatch?! They seemed to have an computer inventory with exploded diagrams and all the part numbers but the guy was adamant they wouldn't have any of that stuff :?
maybe someone could measure the dimensions of their ashtray for me? The prelude rear ashtrays look about the same. Maybe even mount a wide band or something there? Pretty sure I saw that years ago in an issue of Super Street or Honda Tuning
also what's the best way to refinish it? I've had good luck with Duplicolor "adhesive promotor" and regular spray paint but not sure what matches oem Black/Graphite. Prefer to redo in "palmy blue" but not sure that's doable over black
Hey great find! Feels good to get a good deal. I found a BNIB lower console for $20 a few years back. Still using it!
Trouble in your case will be that you'll never get your plastic dye paint to be quite right matching your blue interior. Sucks but true. I recommend buying a blue one when one turns up, probably at market price, then reselling your black one so you come out about even. That or change your entire interior to black to match the console. Black is better than that horrible blue anyway!
Ended up buying a parts car. Got a bunch of stuff my DX never had like passenger mirror, clock, tach, PW/PM etc, plus a whole Z6 swap with trans! And a black interior to match my console, just need rear seats. Still looking for a lead on ashtray, I've seen prelude rear ashtrays that look the same but I don't have one to measure
