Car is a 2000 Civic d16y7 Auto. It doesn't crank, the starter doesn't click, the fuel doesn't prime and scan tool can't read. Headlights and dash light up. Anyone have this problem before?

 

Most likely main relay or ignition switch (key cylinder) contacts issue.

 

Thanks, I'll check the ignition. I checked the main relay and connector continuity and voltage already and didn't find anything wrong there. I'll update once I get a chance to check.

 

Also check the ECU ground wire (G101) located on the thermostat housing...it has a tendency to become brittle with age & randomly come apart when bumped, as I found out the hard way. No ground to ECU no start command to starter solenoid or fuel pump.

 

So I went to check on the car again and mysteriously the fuel pump was working now and the scan tool was connecting. Wouldn't start still but the starter clicked. Replaced the starter and it fired right up.
I did check both the ignition switch and grounds to be safe and found nothing wrong.
