Removed transmission questions.
Hey guys,
I recently managed to remove my transmission from the block. Now that it’s finally out, I want to clean this thing up. I have a ton of engine degreaser in my shed. Is that okay to use in the inside if this thing? What should I try to avoid cleaning around?
Also, I plan on putting in this new clutch kit that I bought awhile ago and resurfacing my flywheel. What are some other things I shiuld check/replace while it’s out?
Thanks.
yes its ok. just don't get degreaser "inside" the engine. i.e. intake/exhaust ports.
soak engine and trans in degreaser and spray away, iv done it hundreds of times
make sure to check clutch engagement if using non oem type clutch.
I would consider painting the motor and trans after cleaning. it helps to spot leaks with clean painted surfaces. and it looks good.
grease up the throwout bearing
